Shallow needle depths tend to be comfortable, while deeper treatments for example for acne scarring, may require the use of a local anaesthetic cream, ensuring a comfortable and pain-free treatment. We will discuss which treatment will suit your needs most in advance of your treatment.
Aftercare
The skin can feel tight like sunburn, but you will be given products to soothe and calm it. Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF 30 daily. Try not to touch your skin post treatment and use only gentle products on the skin for 24-48 hours.

The SKINPEN™ is an electronic micro-needling device, which can be set to different depths & adjusted depending on your individual requirements & the results you wish to achieve. SKINPEN™ comfortably creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process. This process results in skin remodelling, including the formation of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin.

You will typically need 3-6 procedures for optimal results. Treatments can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve your desired results.

The treatment should last for several years. However I recommend a maintenance program which could include quarterly procedures to keep skin looking it’s best.

As with all injections, you will feel some discomfort from the needle. We can treat the area first with anaesthetic cream to keep discomfort to a minimum if this is a concern for you. When the area has been anaesthetised, the filler is carefully injected beneath the skin. The effects are immediate and you can probably go straight back to work afterwards if you choose. We often combine injections using either a needle or a cannula (a cannula looks like a needle but is blunt-tipped), as each has advantages and disadvantages in different situations.

Following treatment, the skin can feel tight like sunburn and you may experience some mild swelling. You will be given products to apply at home to soothe and calm the skin. You skin will also be sensitive so it's important to stay out of the sun and wear SPF 30 daily.

Micro needling is a very effective technique for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. It also is effective at reducing stretch marks and acne scars, but these skin conditions go deeper so it can take longer to see results. Patients usually begin to see the superficial, initial results within a week of their first procedure.
