WHY ARE BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFTS (BBL) SO DANGEROUS?
The mortality from BBL is estimated at 1 in 3,000 to 5,000, which is the highest for any cosmetic procedure. It all relates to an anatomical structure called the inferior gluteal vein (which is a big vein right in the region of the buttocks) where the work takes place during BBL.
WHY I DON'T OFFER A MINI ARM LIFT
Many women - maybe the majority of my patients - feel that they don’t really want or need the whole scar of an arm lift, but just want to be a bit firmer and more toned than they currently are, and wonder if this ‘mini arm lift’ they keep hearing about might be the answer. A mini arm lift is a procedure that I rarely (possibly never) offer. Here’s why.
WHICH BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Your breast surgery choice will depend on exactly what you are looking for. Your surgeon should run through each option and explain the effect of each decision until you get something tailor-made for you.
HOW COSMETIC TREATMENT CORRECTED SCARRING FROM CHILDHOOD SURGERY
I recently carried out cosmetic surgery on a patient who had had tummy surgery as a baby, leaving her with a large scar across the lower part of her stomach. We were able to offer this patient a tummy tuck – or abdominoplasty - a cosmetic surgery to improve the shape of the tummy area (abdomen) by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles.
HOW DO I KNOW IF A TUMMY TUCK IS RIGHT FOR ME?
An abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure which improves the shape and appearance of the abdomen. There are several ways of performing it, reflected in slightly different names such as full or mini-abdominoplasty, fleur-de-lys abdominoplasty, lipoabdominoplasty, high lateral tension abdominoplasty and so on.
DO I NEED LIPOSUCTION OR A TUMMY TUCK?
If there’s not too much fat to remove combined with good skin quality, fat removal alone will work; whereas if skin quality is poor and there’s lots of fat still to remove, the skin would need to be retightened to get the best outcome.
CAN YOU BREASTFEED WITH IMPLANTS?
Breastfeeding is safe and viable with breast implants in place, and neither the volume or quality of breast milk is altered.
